You used to say that what was born here is not necessarily from here. That’s not enough to belong to this land. Maybe you're right, you know? Look at freedom . It was born with you. It's from this world, but that’s not what we've built. Prisons and bars, boundaries and walls, those are our actual flesh, what our nightmares are made of. But freedom… you have to choose it, because you are struggling for it, you commit yourself at any costs, even to never touch it. And what about justice ? It’s rooted in the same place where you came to light. However, it would have been great, if it were engraved next to our name, at the very first registry. This morning I make my blog even more unpopular. I read that last night a vessel carrying at least 200 people sank near Lampedusa Island. As far as the Italian Coast Guard report, 47 were rescued, while about 150 are still missing. I said people because at least on this blog they are people, or humans. Then I read the update of the tragedy: the missing down to 130, as 20 corpses have been sighted at sea. Now I said corpses. A corpse is a corpse, even if an illegal immigrant rather than a refugee. Well, let's be honest, okay? There is racism in our country, in many people. Stories and News No. 268 I think what happened yesterday during the TV talk show Anno Zero (Year Zero) is the exact picture of the shameful way how my country is dealing with the human beings that, in this difficult moment in our history, are significantly contributing to the welfare. This is the reality of the overwhelming majority of the immigrants who live and work beside us, most of the time for us. The fact is that, as happened yesterday, on immigration themes, in front of people who I do not consider as racists, not even ignorant, but just dangerously devoid of an acceptable number of neurons, everybody is good with words. Take as example the speech by former Berlusconi’s ally Gianfranco Fini , where in contrast to his intolerant ghost – now properly buried in the past - said of being a supporter of equality between whites and blacks and respect for foreigners.
