The Story:
Dear citizens,
this letter is for you.
You, that one or more times gave your votes to Silvio Berlusconi.
I want to clarify that this is not an attempt to convince you to change your mind and vote the other party.
First, because I think the other party doesn’t exist, in the sense that it has never been other.
Second, I am not here to convince you of something.
Mine is only an invitation to reflect.
In these years, on account of the man who you put at the head of our government, everything came out.
Probably they were the worst accusations to a country leader: murder and complicity in money laundering, judicial corruption and bribery, false accounting and tax fraud, perjury and drug trafficking.
The person you made the most powerful man in the State did not miss anything.
Yet, you still gave him your vote.
Now, in my humble opinion, there are two possibilities.
Or are you sure he is innocent and victim of a terrible persecution or you think that, even if he were guilty of any or all of the allegations received, Silvio merits leading Italy.
Maybe, because he is always better than others.
Is it right, isn’t it?
I know it's difficult, now more than ever, to believe in something.
I know how difficult it is to keep in the heart a solid trust in the future, and especially in people.
However, I am not here to sell you easy optimism, you can't accuse me of naïve and I won’t tell you fairy tales.
I ask only for a moment of your time.
Go and look in the mirror.
Think about your country, Italy, and watch your reflection.
What you see is not a dream.
It is the simple reality.
Now look at that person you are.
If you’ll come back tomorrow and the day after, you will always find you.
Life is one, as your image in the mirror.
You won’t have other opportunities.
You cannot change the TV channel and put somebody else.
You can change makeup, shave your face, you may cut your eyebrows or modify your hairstyle, but the eyes who return your gaze will always be yours.
Those eyes have seen other times besides this, a myriad of moments of real life, which has not always been like today.
Now, stand on this question: are you sure that our current Prime Minister, innocent or guilty, is really what you deserve?
And above all, even if you have had a reprehensible existence, are you sure he deserves you?
